About
Who am I?
Welcome to InsertDeeperAudio, my personal audio-related blog. You'll find reviews, impressions, photo dumps, rants, articles, and everything else I write about!
My background in audio started since I was a child and was exposed to music in all forms: live concerts, small intimate venues, boom boxes, and some loud and frankly absurd car speakers that should never have been that loud around children (but hey, here we are!).
My Review Style
My Experience
I also have (limited) professional experience in many domains related to audio, from being a musician to doing live stage work and also audio mixing/mastering for a local studio.
For IEMs specifically, I have been involved in the hobby since way before the big Chi-Fi boom that happened around 2016. I still remember reading the usual blogs and magazines, those sure were some good times. Now I'm back and in better shape than before, with little hearing damage to my surprise (wear hearing protection folks).
Lately, I have been more interested in the technical aspect of audio and acoustics. I have provided advice, written content, and also measurements for the IEM EQ guide, and I have a few technical and academic articles I plan on writing and posting here.
My Gear
I currently own a few dozen IEMs and cycle frequently between them: around 3-4 different sets will get some listening time per day. However, I do have some staples that I have abused used quite a lot.
Speakers:
- JBL 305P MkII with some small corrective EQ and no subs, positioned and listened to in nearfield. Stored them away since I don't have much freedom to use them for the past few years.
IEMs:
- Etymotic ER2XR with EQ, very useful for commuting. Reliable EDC.
- EPZ Q1 Pro with EQ, super comfortable and on the cheaper end. Good beater set.
- Tangzu x Azla Noirblanc with EQ, sounds good and the perfect balance of everything else.
- Tanchjim Origin, best looking and feeling IEM I own.
- HD58X with EQ, I preferred this to the other 600 series headphones.
- Hifiman Ananda (OG), still haven't found another Hifiman quite as competent.
- Apple dongle, reliable and cheap.
- Tanchjim Luna AT Edition, the laser engraving is great and it has so much juice.
- Tanchjim Space, surprisingly small and carriable.
- Snowsky Retro Nano, replaced my now dying Qudelix 5K.
